Senior appointments at Fontenergy

Low carbon energy company Fontenergy announced the hires of two senior energy specialists today.

Casey Cole has been appointed as Head of Sustainable Technology, with responsibility for leading Fontenergy's infrastructure arm, Fonten Development. The division project manages the design, procurement and implementation of low carbon energy developments, as well as providing consultancy services to help owners and developers build or refurbish real estate to meet carbon reduction and commercial goals.

Casey has extensive experience of low-carbon energy systems, and has led teams on a wide range of innovative low-carbon engineering projects, from small mixed use developments to energy masterplans. He joins Fontenergy from consulting engineers XCO2.

Mark McKenzie joins Fontenergy as General Manager of Fonten Power, Fontenergy's not-for-profit energy services company (ESCo). Fonten Power will be a licensed electricity supplier, providing the full range of energy services from billing customers for thermal and electrical consumption through to providing wholesale energy procurement and meter registration.

Mark has over a decade's experience in the UK energy markets and has a proven track record of delivering commercially successful operations during times of market change and development.

Fontenergy chief executive Gareth Jones said that the appointments were a sign of the increasing pressure on developers and local authorities to deliver low carbon developments. "Upcoming changes to legislation such as zero carbon homes from 2016 bring a massive shift in the way energy is generated and supplied. Developers will have to get low carbon right or face significant risks to their businesses.

These key appointments expand Fontenergy's capacity to deliver low-carbon distributed energy. We expect to continue to grow to meet huge demand in the market."
